Even the NBA icons have their fanboy moments, and recently Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Doncic shared a two-word message for the tennis legend Novak Djokovic. After defeating the Sacramento Kings at their home ground in Los Angeles with an overall score of 128-104, the Lakers proved that they are very much into the 2025-26 NBA championship.
During the postgame press conference, Luka Doncic shared his real thoughts for the Grand Slam legend. The Slovenian athlete’s two-word message for Novak Djokovic speaks volumes about his love for the Serbian tennis icon. He said,
“Novak, for me, is the GOAT." For him to be here watching me is unbelievable. I’m really excited he’s here.”
According to Doncic, being watched by the 24-time Grand Slam champion was beyond his imagination. The Lakers’ star was way too excited by Djokovic’s presence at the courtside and even clicked a snap with him. Los Angeles Lakers’ coach JJ Redick even shared his thoughts on Luka Doncic’s great performance. He clearly pointed out what exactly makes him a special one in the crowd. Redick said,
“There’s a dare to Luka’s game. It’s one of the many reasons that makes him such a special player.In that stretch from him, he made a bunch of amazing plays, and we got our pace back.”
JJ Redick further continued,
“We had six games in eight nights. Then to play back-to-back, one on the road and one at home, where nobody is getting heavy minutes in either game, is important.”
The Los Angeles Lakers brought a halt to their three-match losing streak after defeating the Warriors with an overall score of 129-101, and after this they are positioned at the sixth spot in the Western Conference.
